About Me

Hi, I’m Shea Stevens. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Ayesha Lakhani, LPC-S in Texas, USA. I am passionate about humanistic therapy theory and philosophy. There is a rich community of gestalt practitioners and theorists all over the world. This writing is a small effort to be in community with this wonderful network.

I have also written a book on the history of the philosophical concept of form/gestalt. It’s on Amazon, linked HERE.

At times I will share here my own integration of theory, though my main goal is to highlight the work of Gestalt theorists, historians, writers and therapists. My perspective and way-of-being as a gestalt therapist may vary greatly from someone else’s. I believe each of us views and integrates theory uniquely.

I am an introvert, a forever learner, fond of plants and gardens. Always trying to cultivate nuance and balance in my life.

Disclaimer: In an effort to keep records of the history of gestalt therapy theory and the development that led to its creation, I might at times cover the work of thinkers who had problematic ideas or actions in their personal or professional lives, or used their ideas in a harmful way. My writing about various philosophers, psychotherapists, and their ideas is not necessarily an endorsement of what they said or did, and I recognize that some people who intersected with the history of gestalt therapy have done harm.
